This policy explains what the app ("Background Play", "we") does with information. In short: there is no sign-up or account, your music, videos and voice recordings stay on your device, and the only information that leaves the device is what Google AdMob needs to show ads and anonymous usage analytics through Google Firebase.
The app is free and supported by ads from Google AdMob. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process your Advertising ID and other device identifiers, basic app activity / diagnostics, and approximate location derived from your IP address, in order to serve and measure ads. This is handled by Google under its Privacy Policy (see also how Google uses data). In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, a consent prompt (Google User Messaging Platform) appears before personalised ads are used; you can change your choice later in the app's Settings → Privacy options. You can reset or delete your Advertising ID any time in your device's Settings → Privacy → Ads.
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used so we can improve it — for example how many people open the app, which screens are used, and overall retention. This is anonymous and aggregated: it does not include your name or email, and it never includes the content of your music, videos or recordings. Firebase processes this data under Google's Privacy Policy. You can limit analytics in your device settings (reset Advertising ID / limit ad personalisation).
Background Play is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13. It shows third-party ads and is not enrolled in Google Play's "Designed for Families" program.
The third-party services that receive data from the app are Google AdMob (advertising) and Google Firebase Analytics (anonymous usage analytics). We do not sell your personal information.
We may update this policy as the app evolves; material changes will be shown here with a new "Last updated" date.
